Tyler Thomas Commits to Houston
Tyler Thomas, a 2026 linebacker from Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake, Virginia, has committed to the University of Houston. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Thomas chose the Cougars over offers from East Carolina and Marshall, citing a desire to play in a high-intensity defensive scheme that suits his skills. Houston's strong linebacker depth chart presented Thomas with an opportunity to compete for playing time immediately, and he believes the program's academic support will help him succeed in the classroom. Thomas had previously decommitted from Old Dominion in April, but after visiting Houston's campus and meeting with coaches, he felt confident in his decision. The Tigers' standout linebacker is expected to enroll at Houston in January 2027 and participate in spring practice.
