Bulldozing Through the Offseason: Stone Bridge Bulldogs' Kicker Prep Drill
To dominate the competition, 5A programs like Stone Bridge Bulldogs need kickers who can deliver under pressure. One key drill to build this confidence is the 'Bulldozer Blast'. This exercise targets the kicker's ability to drive through the ball, generating power and accuracy. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 30-second rest between sets. Start with a tee or holder at a 45-degree angle, 35 yards from the kicker. On each rep, the kicker must take 3-4 steps back, plant their non-kicking foot, and drive through the ball, keeping their eyes on the target. Coaching cues include 'drive through the ball', 'keep your eyes on the target', and 'explosive follow-through'. This drill translates to game performance by teaching kickers to stay focused and generate power from their legs, resulting in more consistent and accurate kicks.
