FridayNightPulse Training Tip: TE Power Slant Drill for Highland Springs Springers
Highland Springs Springers' tight ends can take their game to the next level with the Power Slant Drill. This drill targets the TE's ability to create separation and catch passes in traffic. To set up, divide the TEs into pairs with one player as the receiver and the other as the defender. The receiver will line up 5 yards off the ball, while the defender lines up 2 yards off the ball. On the snap, the receiver will run a 3-yard out route, then quickly cut back inside to a 5-yard slant. The defender must react quickly to stay in front of the receiver. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'inside release.' This drill translates to game performance by teaching TEs to create separation in tight spaces and catch passes in traffic.
