Tiger Tackling: A Drill for 6A K Players
At Oscar Smith High School, our 6A K players are gearing up for a dominant season. One key area of focus is tackling, and we've developed a drill to improve their technique and confidence. The 'Tiger Tackle' drill involves three sets of 10 reps, with a 30-second rest in between sets. Players will line up in pairs, with one player as the ballcarrier and the other as the tackler. The ballcarrier will start with a 5-yard head start, and the tackler must use proper tackling form to bring them down. Coaching cues include 'lead with your shoulder' and 'keep your head up.' This drill translates to game performance by improving reaction time and tackling efficiency. By mastering the Tiger Tackle, our K players will be ready to take on the toughest opponents.
