Rice Green Knights OL Drill: Building Power and Agility

๐Ÿ“ Rice Green KnightsยทSaturday, July 4, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The Rice Green Knights' coaching staff has developed a drill to improve their D-II offensive linemen's power and agility. The 'Med Ball Slam' drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest in between sets. Players start in a 3-point stance, then explosively drive forward, slamming a 20-pound medicine ball to the ground. As they slam the ball, they must maintain proper footwork and body positioning. Coaching cues include 'Drive, Slam, Recover' and 'Keep your eyes up, stay low.' This drill translates to game performance by improving players' ability to generate power and speed off the line of scrimmage, while maintaining control and balance. By incorporating this drill into their pre-season training, the Green Knights' OL can expect to see improved performance in the trenches.
