Rutland Raiders TE Drill: 'Box Out' for Dominant Red-Zone Play

๐Ÿ“ Rutland RaidersยทMonday, July 6, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, Rutland Raiders tight ends will focus on the 'Box Out' drill to improve their red-zone presence. The drill involves three sets of 10 reps: (1) Box Out with a defender, (2) Box Out with a defender and a DB, and (3) Box Out with a defender, a DB, and a LB. Coaches will cue TEs to 'seal the edge' and 'box out' the defender, using their feet and hands to create space. This drill translates to game performance by teaching TEs to occupy defenders and create separation in tight spaces. By mastering the Box Out, Rutland Raiders TEs will be more effective in the red zone, drawing defenders and creating scoring opportunities. Coaches can adjust the drill to include different defender types and angles for added realism.
