Precision Passing: A Drill for Burlington Sea Horses Quarterbacks
As the Burlington Sea Horses prepare for the upcoming D-I season, quarterbacks must refine their passing skills to outmaneuver opponents. One effective drill to achieve this is the 'Rapid Release' exercise. Divide the quarterbacks into pairs, with one player serving as the receiver and the other as the passer. Set up three cones in a triangular formation, with the receiver at the apex. The passer must release the ball within 2 seconds of receiving the snap, while navigating through the cones. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'Quick eyes, quick release' and 'Focus on the target.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the quarterback's ability to read defenses and deliver the ball quickly, allowing receivers to create separation and gain a competitive advantage.
