Rutland Raiders' Multisport Athlete Eyes College Flag Football Opportunities
Rutland Raiders' standout athlete, Emily Johnson, has made a name for herself in multiple sports. Now, she's setting her sights on flag football, with the goal of earning a college scholarship. Johnson's athletic prowess has caught the attention of several schools, including the University of Nebraska, which will launch its inaugural NCAA Division 1 flag football program in 2028 under the guidance of coaches Liz and Katie Sowers. Ottawa University, Kansas, a national powerhouse with up to 12 scholarships, is also recruiting Johnson. Additionally, Keiser University, Florida, and Midland University, Nebraska, have expressed interest in her skills. As Johnson prepares for the upcoming season, she's focusing on developing her skills and building relationships with college coaches. To increase her chances of securing a scholarship, Johnson is creating highlight tapes and attending summer camps to showcase her abilities.
