Summer Training Tip: WR Drills for D-II Programs

๐Ÿ“ Middlebury TigersยทFriday, July 31, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Middlebury Tigers WRs, get ready to take your game to the next level with this summer training drill. The 'Route Box Drill' is a game-changer for D-II programs, focusing on quick releases, sharp cuts, and precise footwork. Set up a 10x10 grid, dividing it into four quadrants. Have your WRs start in the center, then sprint to each quadrant, performing a specific route (in, out, post, or deep). Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues: 'Quick feet, quick hands!' and 'Release on the numbers!' This drill translates to game performance by improving WRs' ability to quickly read defenses and make sharp cuts on the field. By mastering the Route Box Drill, your WRs will be ready to dominate on Friday nights.
