O'Dea Fighting Irish Girls Flag Football Sees New Scholarship Opportunities

The University Interscholastic League's (UIL) flag football pilot district expansion is creating new pathways for student-athletes to access college scholarships. The NCAA's Emerging Sports for Women program, which added women's flag football in January 2026, has already seen several schools invest in varsity programs. The University of Nebraska is the only Power 4 school with a fully funded D1 program, offering a potential destination for top talent. NAIA programs like Ottawa University (KS) and Keiser University (FL) offer active scholarships, while Midland University (NE) is also providing opportunities. Additionally, UT Arlington is developing its D1 program, providing a potential entry point for athletes looking to compete at the highest level. O'Dea Fighting Irish players must excel in the 3A division to attract the attention of these programs and secure scholarships.
