Defensive End Dominance: Eastside Catholic's Pass Rush Drill

๐Ÿ“ Eastside Catholic CrusadersยทThursday, July 16, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

To improve their pass rush, 3A defensive ends can try a drill that focuses on speed and agility. Set up cones in a zig-zag pattern, 10 yards apart. The DE player starts at one end and must navigate through the cones, keeping their head up and eyes forward. They then transition into a 3-step drop, planting their outside foot and exploding into a pass rush. Perform 3 sets of 5 reps, resting for 1 minute between sets. Coaching cues include 'head up, eyes forward' and 'explosive step.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the DE's ability to quickly change direction and generate power off the edge. It also helps them develop the muscle memory needed to execute a pass rush in game situations.
