Waunakee Warriors QBs: Master the 'Quick Release' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Waunakee WarriorsยทWednesday, July 15, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Quarterbacks at 4A programs like Waunakee Warriors can improve their accuracy and efficiency with the 'Quick Release' drill. This drill focuses on rapid release and follow-through. To set up, divide the QBs into pairs with one QB as the passer and the other as the receiver. The passer starts 5 yards behind the receiver, who is facing them. The passer calls out 'go' and releases the ball on their own cadence. The receiver runs 5 yards and turns to catch the ball. The passer repeats for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues include 'snap the wrist' and 'extend the arm.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the QB's ability to quickly read the defense and release the ball before pressure arrives.
