Trevon Smith Commits to Texas Tech
Trevon Smith, a Class of 2026 quarterback from George Washington Patriots, has committed to play for Texas Tech University. Smith, a three-star prospect, chose the Red Raiders over offers from several other Power Five programs. At 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, Smith is expected to fit seamlessly into Texas Tech's pass-happy offense, which features a spread scheme that emphasizes quick releases and precision passing. With the departure of incumbent starter Tyler Shough, Smith sees an opportunity to compete for the starting job immediately. Additionally, Texas Tech's renowned academic program and strong engineering department made the university an attractive option for Smith, who plans to major in mechanical engineering. Smith had previously committed to West Virginia University but decommitted in April after reassessing his options. He is expected to sign with Texas Tech in December.
