FridayNightPulse Training Tip: CB Drills for AAAA Programs

๐Ÿ“ Morgantown MohigansยทWednesday, July 22, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This week's training tip focuses on a drill designed to improve the reaction time and footwork of cornerbacks at AAAA programs like Morgantown Mohigans. The 'Ladder Shuffle Drill' consists of 3 sets of 10 reps. Players start in a 3-point stance, then quickly move through a ladder placed on the ground, shuffling their feet from one side to the other. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'stay low.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing cornerbacks to quickly change direction and stay in front of receivers. To add an extra level of difficulty, add a 'reaction' element by having a coach or teammate call out a color and having the player immediately change direction. This drill can be used in warm-ups or as a specific training exercise.
