Building a Dominant OL Line: The 'Power Pull' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Natrona County MustangsยทWednesday, July 1, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At 4A programs like Natrona County Mustangs, the battle for gridiron supremacy begins with a strong OL line. To build the power and speed needed to dominate on the field, we recommend incorporating the 'Power Pull' drill into your summer training regimen. This drill targets the legs, glutes, and core, essential for explosive blocking and pulling. Set up a 10-yard line with two cones, 5 yards apart. Have OL players start in a 3-point stance, then explosively drive through the first cone, keeping their back straight and chest up. Immediately transition into a pull block, using their legs to generate power and drive through the second cone. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 60 seconds between sets. This drill translates to game performance by building the strength and speed needed to overpower defenders and create holes for the RB.
