Texas A&M Lands Commitment from 2026 Kicker Austin Thompson
Texas A&M has secured a commitment from 2026 kicker Austin Thompson, a standout specialist from the Dimond Lynx in Anchorage, Alaska. Thompson, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound athlete, boasts a strong leg, with a 55-yard field goal range and a 4.5-second 40-yard dash time. The 4A standout has already garnered competitive offers from the University of Oregon and Washington State University. As a sophomore, Thompson averaged 42.5 yards per punt and connected on 12 of 15 field goal attempts. He is expected to be a key contributor to the Lynx's special teams unit this fall. With his commitment to Texas A&M, Thompson becomes the first kicker from Alaska to pledge to the Aggies. The recruiting timeline for Thompson indicates a final decision was made in early July, with plans to sign during the early signing period in December.
