Elevate Your QB Play: Valor-Style 'Quick Release' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Valor Christian EaglesยทSaturday, July 11, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

For 5A quarterbacks like Valor Christian's standout signal-callers, the 'Quick Release' drill is a game-changer. This high-intensity exercise targets the QB's ability to rapidly release the ball, mimicking the speed and accuracy required in game situations. To set up the drill, divide your quarterbacks into pairs with one ball per duo. Each QB will start in a shotgun stance, with their partner 5-7 yards away, simulating a defender. On the whistle, the QB must quickly drop back, set their feet, and release the ball to their partner. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Coaching cues: 'Quick feet, quick release!' and 'Follow through, follow through!' This drill translates to game performance by improving the QB's ability to quickly read defenses and deliver accurate passes under pressure, a crucial skill for 5A programs like Valor Christian.
