FridayNightPulse: Kamehameha Warriors DE Drill - 'Rush the Pocket'

๐Ÿ“ Kamehameha WarriorsยทWednesday, July 8, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At Kamehameha Warriors' summer open programs, defensive end players are honing their skills with the 'Rush the Pocket' drill. This dynamic exercise targets agility, speed, and hand-eye coordination. To execute, DEs start in a 3-point stance, 5 yards off the quarterback. On the whistle, they sprint towards the QB, focusing on a quick, inside move to disrupt the pocket. After 3 reps, they transition to a 2-point stance, 3 yards off the QB, and repeat for 3 sets. Coaching cues include 'Fast feet, fast hands' and 'Bend, don't stretch.' This drill translates to game performance by simulating the speed and agility required to pressure the QB. It also improves hand-eye coordination, allowing DEs to read and react to the QB's movements.
