Quarterback Readiness: Kamehameha Warriors' 7-Point Reads Drill

๐Ÿ“ Kamehameha WarriorsยทWednesday, July 8, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At Kamehameha Warriors' open programs, quarterbacks are working on their 7-Point Reads drill to improve their pre-snap reads and decision-making. This drill consists of 3 sets of 5 reps, with a 2-minute rest in between sets. In each rep, the quarterback lines up 10 yards deep, and the coach calls out one of the 7 points: strong side tight end, weak side tight end, strong side receiver, weak side receiver, strong side running back, weak side running back, or no read. The quarterback must identify the point and make a fake or audible to the correct side. Coaching cue: 'Read the numbers, not the names.' This drill translates to game performance by forcing the quarterback to quickly identify defensive schemes and make split-second decisions, ultimately leading to more effective play-calling and execution.
