Speed and Agility Drill for 4A S Players

๐Ÿ“ Twin Falls BruinsยทMonday, July 6, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

For 4A programs like Twin Falls Bruins, developing speed and agility in their S players is crucial for success on the field. One effective drill to improve these skills is the 'Ladder Carioca Drill'. This drill targets quick changes of direction and acceleration. To set up, place a ladder on the ground with rungs 6-8 inches apart. Have the S player start at one end of the ladder and perform a carioca drill (alternating feet through the ladder) for 3 sets of 10 reps. After completing the carioca drill, have the player immediately sprint 10 yards down the field and back. This drill translates to game performance by improving the player's ability to quickly change direction and accelerate, allowing them to stay one step ahead of defenders. Coaches should focus on proper footwork and body positioning throughout the drill.
