As top recruits, you've likely heard about junior day visits, but do you know what coaches are really looking for? At FridayNightPulse, we spoke with several 8A program coaches to get the inside scoop. According to Brother Rice Crusaders defensive coordinator, Mike O'Brien, 'coaches are looking for players who can process information quickly and make adjustments on the fly.' He cites the example of a prospect who can diagnose a defensive scheme in under 10 seconds. 'That's a game-changer,' O'Brien says. To prepare, practice film study and work on your ability to read defenses. Come prepared with questions about the team's scheme and your role in it. Don't just talk about your stats – show coaches how you can fit into their system.
