Caleb Smith Commits to University of Houston
Trinity Shamrocks safety Caleb Smith, a Class of 2026 prospect, has committed to the University of Houston. Smith, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound athlete, chose the Cougars over other Power Five offers. The Shamrocks' secondary will look to replace several key contributors, and Smith's decision to commit to Houston presents an opportunity to fill the void. The Cougars' defensive scheme, which features a mix of man-to-man and zone coverage, aligns with Smith's strengths as a ball-hawking safety. Additionally, Smith cited the university's strong academic program as a major factor in his decision. Smith had previously committed to the University of Kentucky but decommitted in May after visiting the Houston campus. He will join a defensive backfield that features several returning starters and will look to contribute immediately.
