FridayNightPulse: St. Xavier QBs Prepare for Gridiron Greatness with the 'Read and React' Drill
At St. Xavier High School, 6A powerhouse Tigers are gearing up for another championship season. Quarterbacks are putting in the work with the 'Read and React' drill, a key component of their pre-season training. This drill focuses on quick decision-making and accuracy under pressure. To execute, QBs will stand 10 yards from the line of scrimmage, with a receiver running a 5-yard out route. The QB must read the defense and react accordingly, throwing the ball to the receiver. Coaches will provide real-time feedback, emphasizing the importance of staying calm and trusting the process. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. This drill translates to game performance by replicating the high-pressure situations QBs will face on Friday nights. By mastering the 'Read and React' drill, St. Xavier QBs will be ready to take on the best of the best.
