Enhance DE Speed and Agility with the 'Shuttle Shuffle' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Male BulldogsยทThursday, July 23, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

For 6A programs like Male Bulldogs, dominating defensive line play is crucial to success. One drill that can help DEs improve their speed and agility is the 'Shuttle Shuffle.' This drill involves a series of 10-yard shuttle runs with a twist: after each shuttle, players must quickly change direction and shuffle 5 yards to the side. The drill consists of 3 sets of 5 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'shut down.' This drill translates to game performance by improving DEs' ability to quickly close gaps and pursue ball carriers. It also enhances their agility, allowing them to stay with quicker opponents. Run the 'Shuttle Shuffle' drill at the start of practice to see a noticeable improvement in your DEs' speed and agility.
