Elevate Your QB Game: The 'Read and React' Drill
As the start of the 5A season approaches, Evangel Christian Eagles quarterback hopefuls are gearing up for a rigorous training regimen. One essential drill to master is the 'Read and React' exercise, designed to sharpen their decision-making skills and accuracy under pressure. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 30-second rest interval between sets. Players will line up 10 yards from the quarterback, with 3 receivers spread evenly across the field. The QB will call out a play, and the receivers will react accordingly. The twist: the QB must read the defense and adjust the play on the fly. Coaching cues include 'Keep your eyes up, read the defense, and trust your instincts.' This drill translates to game performance by teaching QBs to remain calm and adapt to changing defensive schemes, ultimately leading to more effective play-calling and a higher completion percentage.
