FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Tight End Speed and Agility Drill
At 4A programs like John Curtis Patriots, tight ends must be versatile and able to create separation in the open field. To improve their speed and agility, we recommend the following drill: 'Tight End Zig-Zag'. Set up four cones in a zig-zag pattern, with the first cone 5 yards from the starting point. The TE will start at the first cone, then weave through the course, focusing on quick feet and sharp cuts. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'Keep your eyes up and focused on the next cone' and 'Drive through the cut, don't just step over it'. This drill translates to game performance by improving the TE's ability to create separation and make plays downfield, making them a more valuable asset to the offense.
