Unlock Explosive Speed for K Players: The 10-Yard Shuttle Drill

๐Ÿ“ Evangel Christian EaglesยทSunday, July 26, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

As the 2026 season approaches, Evangel Christian Eagles' kickers and punters are gearing up for a strong performance. One key drill to focus on is the 10-yard shuttle, designed to improve acceleration and deceleration. Set up cones 10 yards apart, with a kicker or punter starting at one cone. On the whistle, they sprint to the opposite cone, then immediately change direction and sprint back to the starting cone. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues include 'quick feet,' 'explosive acceleration,' and 'controlled deceleration.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing kickers to quickly change direction and maintain speed while navigating the sideline or chasing a punt return. By mastering the 10-yard shuttle, Eagles' specialists will be well-prepared for the demands of 5A competition.
