Building a Stronger Duxbury Green Dragons OL: The 'Box Drill'

๐Ÿ“ Duxbury Green DragonsยทMonday, July 27, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The 'Box Drill' is a crucial exercise for OL players at Div III programs like Duxbury Green Dragons to improve their strength, agility, and technique. This drill involves setting up a 5x5 box or a large square on the field. Players start in a 3-point stance with their feet shoulder-width apart, then explosively jump up onto the box, landing softly on the balls of their feet. They immediately jump back down and repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues include: 'Explode upwards, land softly,' and 'Keep your back straight, engage your core.' This drill translates to game performance by improving OL players' ability to quickly change direction, generate power, and maintain balance in tight spaces.
