FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Myers Park Mustangs RB Drill
This week's training tip is designed to help 4A running backs like Myers Park's standout players improve their acceleration and change of direction. The 'L-Shape Drill' involves setting up four cones in an L-shape, with the player starting at the top of the 'L'. The coach will call out 'speed' and the player must sprint to the first cone, then immediately change direction to the second cone, and finally accelerate to the third and fourth cones. The player will repeat this process for 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'stay low.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the player's ability to quickly change direction and accelerate to the hole, making them a more elusive and effective runner.
