Burke Bulldogs QBs Get Ready for the Gridiron with the 'Read and React' Drill
Omaha Burke Bulldogs quarterback prospects are gearing up for the upcoming season with a high-intensity drill that simulates game-like situations. The 'Read and React' drill is designed to improve decision-making and accuracy under pressure. Coaches will have QBs set up in a shotgun formation, 10 yards deep, with a defender at the line of scrimmage. On the snap, the QB must read the defender's alignment and reaction to the snap, then quickly react and deliver a pass to a receiver. Coaches will start with 3 sets of 5 reps, increasing to 5 sets of 10 reps as the QBs build endurance and accuracy. Coaching cues include 'eyes on the defender' and 'quick release.' This drill translates to game performance by forcing QBs to think and react quickly, making split-second decisions that can make or break a drive.
