Nashua South Panthers OL Drill: Building Power and Speed
This summer, Nashua South Panthers OL coach, John Smith, is focusing on a drill that targets power and speed development. The 'Medicine Ball Slam' drill is a game-changer for OL players, and here's how to implement it: Set up 3-4 stations with medicine balls (4-6 lbs). Players start in a 3-point stance, then explosively slam the ball to the ground, immediately followed by a 5-yard sprint. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues: 'Slam the ball like you're blocking a defensive lineman' and 'Drive your feet, not your back.' This drill translates to game performance by building explosive power and speed, allowing OL players to dominate in the trenches. It's a must-try for any Div I OL looking to take their game to the next level.
