Unlocking La Cueva's Tight End Potential with the 'Route Runner' Drill

๐Ÿ“ La Cueva BearsยทFriday, July 3, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At 6A programs like La Cueva Bears, tight ends (TEs) play a crucial role in the offense. To prepare them for the upcoming season, we're highlighting the 'Route Runner' drill, a high-intensity exercise that translates to game performance. The drill involves setting up four cones in a square formation, with the TE starting at the center cone. The coach calls out a route (e.g., out, in, or post), and the TE must run the corresponding route, using proper footwork and body positioning. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'keep your eyes on the quarterback' and 'stay low and balanced.' This drill improves the TE's ability to read defenses and execute routes quickly, making it an essential addition to any pre-season training regimen.
