FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Bishop Gorman DEs Get Ready for the Gridiron
For defensive end prospects at 5A programs like Bishop Gorman, the key to success lies in developing explosive power and speed off the edge. To achieve this, we recommend the 'Rapid Fire' drill. Set up a series of 5-6 cones in a zig-zag pattern, spaced 5 yards apart. DEs will start at the first cone and sprint to the second, then immediately pivot and change direction to the third cone. Repeat this sequence for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues include 'Quick Feet' and 'Change of Direction.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing DEs to develop the ability to rapidly close the gap between themselves and the quarterback, making it difficult for offenses to block them effectively. By incorporating the 'Rapid Fire' drill into their training regimen, Bishop Gorman DEs will be well-prepared to dominate on the gridiron.
