Malik Brown Commits to SMU

๐Ÿ“ Long Island Lutheran CrusadersยทThursday, July 2, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Long Island Lutheran Crusaders defensive end Malik Brown has committed to play football at Southern Methodist University. The Class of 2027 prospect chose SMU over other Division I offers. Brown's commitment to the Mustangs is a result of the school's fit with his athletic abilities and academic goals. SMU's 3-4 defensive scheme aligns with Brown's strengths as a pass-rushing defensive end, and he is expected to contribute immediately to the team's depth chart. Additionally, SMU's academic programs in business and engineering align with Brown's interests. Brown previously held offers from several other Division I programs, but SMU's combination of athletic and academic opportunities made it the best fit for his future. Brown's commitment to SMU marks a significant addition to the Mustangs' recruiting class for the 2027 season.
