Sprint Out Drill for 5A S Players: Building Explosive Speed at Imhotep Charter
As the summer heat intensifies, Imhotep Charter's S players are putting in the work to build explosive speed and agility. One key drill to add to your training regimen is the Sprint Out drill. Set up four cones in a diamond formation, 5 yards apart. Players start at the top cone, then sprint to the bottom cone, cutting sharply to the left and right through the cones. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include: 'Fast feet, fast hands,' and 'Change of direction, change of pace.' This drill translates to game performance by improving S players' ability to quickly close gaps and change direction on the fly, making them more effective in coverage and pursuit. With consistent practice, Imhotep Charter's S players will be ready to take the field in September.
