Tight End Training: Bishop Hendricken's Summer Camp Focus

๐Ÿ“ Bishop Hendricken HawksยทTuesday, July 21, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

For Division I tight ends, the summer is a time to refine technique and build strength. At Bishop Hendricken's summer camp, one drill that's getting attention is the 'Route Box' drill. TE's line up in a 10-yard box, with cones marking the corners of the box. Coaches call out a route (e.g. 'in', 'out', 'post') and the TE must quickly change direction and run the route. Start with 3 sets of 10 reps, focusing on quick feet and sharp cuts. As the drill progresses, increase the speed and add a defender to simulate game pressure. This drill translates to game performance by improving a TE's ability to quickly adjust to changing situations and create separation from defenders. It's a key skill for any TE looking to excel at the Division I level.
