Quarterback Readiness: South Pointe Stallions' Pre-Season Drill
As the 4A season approaches, quarterbacks at South Pointe Stallions are putting in the work to refine their skills. One key drill to focus on is the 'Quick Release' exercise. This drill targets the quarterback's ability to quickly release the ball, a crucial aspect of their game. To set up the drill, divide the quarterbacks into pairs with one ball per pair. Each quarterback will start in a shotgun formation, 5 yards deep. The coach will call a play, and the quarterback must quickly release the ball to their partner, who is running a 5-yard out route. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Coaching cues include 'quick eyes,' 'release the ball,' and 'follow through.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing quarterbacks to develop muscle memory and improve their ability to quickly read defenses and release the ball accurately.
