Sprint to Success: A 4A S Player Drill for the Salem Spartans

๐Ÿ“ Salem SpartansยทThursday, July 30, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, the Salem Spartans' coaching staff is focusing on developing the speed and agility of their 4A S players. One key drill is the 'Shuttle Sprints with Crossover':

Players line up at the 5-yard line with cones set up at the 10-yard line. On the whistle, they sprint to the cones, then quickly change direction and cross over to the other side. They repeat this process for 3 sets of 10 reps.

Coaching cues include: 'Keep your eyes up and focused on the cones,' 'Drive your inside foot through the turn,' and 'Use your outside foot to push off and accelerate.'

This drill translates to game performance by improving the S player's ability to quickly change direction and maintain speed, a crucial skill for covering receivers and making tackles.
