'Bolstering the O-Line: Graham-Kapowsin Eagles' OL Drill for Dominance

The Graham-Kapowsin Eagles' 4A football program is renowned for its formidable offense, and a significant contributor to this success is the team's strong offensive line. To improve their blocking prowess, the Eagles' coaching staff employs a drill that targets the linemen's ability to sustain blocks and create holes for the running back. The 'Sled and Shuffle' drill consists of the following: 3 sets of 5 reps, with 30 seconds of rest between sets. Players start in a 3-point stance, then explosively drive into a sled (anchored 10 yards away) for 3 seconds. After releasing from the sled, they immediately shuffle 5 yards to their left, maintaining a low center of gravity and keeping their eyes on the target. This drill translates to game performance by enhancing the linemen's ability to maintain contact and create space for their teammates.
