Route Running Drill for Wide Receivers at Bridgeport Indians
The Bridgeport Indians wide receivers are gearing up for a strong season, and one key drill will help them dominate on the field. The 'Quick Slant and Go' drill focuses on developing the speed, agility, and hand-eye coordination needed to excel in the AA league. Set up four cones in a square formation, with 10 yards between each cone. Divide the receivers into pairs, with one player at the line of scrimmage and the other at the cone 10 yards away. On the coach's signal, the receiver at the line of scrimmage sprints to the cone, then quickly cuts to the sideline, and finally runs a go route down the field. Repeat for 3 sets of 5 reps. Coaching cues include 'quick feet,' 'eyes on the quarterback,' and 'run the route with confidence.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the receivers' ability to quickly get open and make plays down the field.
