Explosive Speed for AAAA RBs: The 'Box to Box' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Morgantown MohigansยทWednesday, July 22, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At Morgantown Mohigans' summer camp, running backs will be putting their speed and agility to the test with the 'Box to Box' drill. This high-intensity workout targets the quick changes of direction and rapid acceleration needed to succeed in AAAA football. The drill consists of 5 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Players will start in a 5-yard box, then sprint to a 10-yard box, change direction, and accelerate back to the start. Coaching cues include: 'Quick feet, explosive acceleration,' and 'Change direction on the ball.' This drill translates to game performance by replicating the rapid changes of direction and speed required to break tackles and make big plays in the open field.
