Kickoff Kickoff: Drills for Kicking Consistency at Southington Blue Knights

๐Ÿ“ Southington Blue KnightsยทWednesday, July 8, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At Southington Blue Knights, developing consistent kickers is crucial for success in the LL program. One drill that helps achieve this is the 'Drop Ball' exercise. The setup: place a drop ball 30 yards from the kicker, with the ball released at chest level. The kicker must strike the ball with the laces, following through with their kicking leg. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, with 2 minutes rest between sets. Coaching cues: 'Lace strike, follow through' and 'Keep your eyes on the ball.' This drill translates to game performance by improving kicking accuracy and consistency. As kickers face game situations, they'll be able to strike the ball with precision, resulting in higher kickoffs and better field position.
